House Communications Director Opening

Progressive Northeastern House Democrat seeks Communications Director to lead an aggressive press strategy principally focused on translating federal work to local communities in a New England-based district. The Communications Director will serve as a formal spokesperson and media liaison for the Congressman, implementing a multi-media communications strategy. The Communications Director is expected to remain abreast of current legislative and non-legislative issues about which the Congressman may be questioned, and provide advice and recommendations on media strategy. Director of Finance & Administration

Job Summary
Green Media Toolshed (GMT) is a nonprofit organization that
specializes in transforming advocacy by building networks that will
create support for social change quickly and effectively. We are in
search of a decisive and innovative senior team member who will manage
key internal financial and operational functions.

The Director of Finance and Administration will define the process and
implement the infrastructure and systems needed to support substantial
organizational growth over the next 1- 5 years. S/he will continue to
build and manage effective and streamlined operations systems,
including financial, accounting, legal, information technology (IT),
human resources (HR), and physical infrastructure.

Core responsibilities include the production of monthly financial
reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and
a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk,
enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and
ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting
principles. The Director of Finance and Administration will also
manage the operations of an organization of 10-15 employees, including
human resources, systems, and facilities.

Key areas of responsibility
In partnership with the COO, the Director of Finance will provide
strategic and ongoing leadership and direction in key operational
areas with special focus on financial policy and management and long-
term financial planning. This individual will direct and manage the
budget, financial reporting and controls, systems, forecasting,
accounting, investment, and organization operations.

Management
• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Manage outsourced functions, such as payroll services and
SmartBenefits
• Manage systems vendors, such as IT and legal counsel
• Manage facilities, including office infrastructure, furniture and
equipment
• Manage cash flow and forecasting
• Prepare for and coordinate all audit activities
• Negotiate leases and other contracts as needed
• Design financial and administrative systems adequate for achieving
the organization’s growth goals

Transactions
• Pay bills and prepare invoices in line with required formats and
controls.
• Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
• Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
• Process payroll in a timely manner
• Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are completed
• Maintain the chart of accounts
• Maintain an orderly accounting filing system

Reporting

Compliance
• Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the
annual audit
• Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting
requirements and tax filings
• Experience in dealing with commercial banks and other financial
institutions

Human Resources
• Implement and improve personnel policies; communicate information to
staff
• Evaluate and oversee all benefits negotiations and management of
programs and accounts
• Coordinate benefits with staff members
• Track timesheets and time off accrual and use


Qualifications
Candidates should have at least 8 years of professional experience in
managing and finance and administration of a $3 - $10 million
organization. This position requires superior interpersonal skills,
discretion, diplomacy and judgment. The ideal candidate will also have
experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary and dynamic team.

Successful candidates will also have the following competencies.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business management.
• Knowledge of and experience in nonprofit accounting practices and
financial management.
• Clear resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of
creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems.
• Experience in the areas of legal, audit, compliance, budget, and
resource development.
• Technological savvy, with an ability to point to examples of having
worked with IT staff to develop and implement new processes and system

• Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with a strong leader and
a committed staff with high standards and expectations.
• Keen analytical, organizational and hands-on problem-solving skills
that support and enable sound strategic decision-making.

Compensation:
This is a senior level position with a salary range of $70,000 -

Regional Field Director
Duties & Oversight/Responsibilities

Manage paid staff and/or volunteer organizers to meet volunteer
recruitment, voter contact and GOTV goals in one of six geographic
regions within Massachusetts.

Maintain an accurate database of voter contact and volunteer
recruitment data in collaboration with the statewide field
organization.

Provide daily report to Field Director, including volunteer
recruitment and voter contacts.
Train volunteers for voter contact activities.

Prepare and manage call lists (both virtual and paper), including
